Vanessa’s experience includes defending motor accident insurance claims, as well as having extensive familiarity with the Medical Assessment Service (MAS) and as an advocate before the Claims Assessment and Resolution Service (CARS) and Court. She approaches litigation from a commercial perspective, without losing sight of the effect a motor accident can have on an injured person.

Having worked on numerous blameless accident and novel claims, her focus is on providing advice on exposure and developing strategies to minimise claims cost. She has a particular interest in early resolution and fraud claims. Vanessa is known for her ability to delve into a claim and pick through the details until the facts are established and a strategy and advice can be given.

Vanessa has a keen eye for assessing quantum and investigating interesting liability and medical issues, as well as defending bus claims. She brings a practical analysis of issues and always considers the opportunity cost for both sides of any argument.

One of Vanessa’s strengths is her ability to foster strong relationships.  She takes pride in dealing with her clients, colleagues and opponents with integrity and respect. This, in turn, has resulted in the development of relationships of trust, which are used to mutually benefit all parties in negotiation. It allows her to determine the objectives of the injured person and the client, with a view to bringing about resolution of a claim.

Vanessa is proactive and enjoys devising methods to assist her clients achieve their goals. She regularly provides ad hoc advice and formal training to clients, as well as the mentoring of junior lawyers.
