Curwoods Lawyers (Curwoods) congratulates Helen McHugh, Senior Associate in our Workers Compensation and Employers and Latent Risk Insurance practice group, on being named as finalist in the ‘Senior Associate of the Year’ category in the 2017 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.

These awards recognise individual excellence in the legal profession as well as trailblazers that have challenged traditional models and found better ways to practice law. These awards were open to all firms across Australia.

Finalists were selected based on their outstanding work, contributions towards the growth and performance of their firms and their contributions to the legal profession in FY 2016/2017.

As Head of Curwoods’ Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, Helen has been instrumental in streamlining Curwoods’ pro-bono initiatives and charity and community contributions. She also leads Curwoods’ Lawyers Assisting and Encouraging Promising Students (LEAPS) mentoring program, a workplace learning program involving year nine students from Leumeah High School at risk of leaving school early.

Scott Kennedy, Managing Partner, said “Congratulations to Helen on being named a finalist in the 2017 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards. The energy and enthusiasm Helen brings to not only her legal work, but also to Curwoods’ CSR initiatives, demonstrates her commitment to contributing towards the success of our business. We are proud to see Helen recognised for her achievements.”

The winners of the 2017 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards will be announced on Friday, 1 September 2017.
